The Drew Carey Show and early sitcom work
Miller's breakout recurring character was Kate O'Brien on The Drew Carey Show, beginning in the mid-1990s. That network-sitcom role placed her in a workplace-and-friendship ensemble before her later association with several Bill Lawrence productions. She also had guest roles on Seinfeld and other programs earlier in her career.
Seinfeld credits are easy to overstate because a popular guest appearance can generate years of search interest. She did not star in Seinfeld as a series regular. The accurate answer is that she appeared in guest roles while continuing to build her own television career.
Scrubs: Jordan Sullivan
On Scrubs, Miller portrayed Jordan Sullivan, a character whose directness and complicated relationships provided friction and humor in the medical-comedy setting. Jordan is a recurring figure, not a medical expert whose dialogue should be treated as health guidance. Miller returned to the role in the 2026 revival era as well.
Her performance is closely associated with the show's distinctive tonal shifts between jokes and emotional stories. A reader looking specifically for Jordan can find episodes via cast databases, while a general filmography should make clear which series defined her public profile.
Cougar Town and Shrinking
Miller played Ellie Torres in Cougar Town, again working within a friendship-centered ensemble comedy. Her character's blunt wit and family relationships distinguished Ellie from Jordan even though both roles drew on Miller's dry comic timing.
In the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, Miller plays Liz, a supporting character whose friendship and neighborhood dynamics are part of the show's emotional structure. The streaming-era series introduces her work to audiences who may never have watched the 1990s sitcoms.
Other credits and a useful watch order
Miller has also provided voice work for Clone High and appeared in selected guest parts across network television. As with any television actor, a credit database may list reruns or self-appearances alongside acted roles, so it helps to distinguish talk-show visits from scripted characters.
A sensible viewing path is The Drew Carey Show for her early prominence, Scrubs for a different kind of comedy, Cougar Town for an ensemble lead and Shrinking for recent work. This page intentionally excludes appearance-based gossip and unverified personal claims.
