Can You Still Play Friday the 13th: The Game on Xbox One?

Friday the 13th: The Game is no longer an actively supported Xbox One online multiplayer title. Its digital sales ended after the licensing period, and official online services shut down at the end of 2024. As of October 31, 2026, guides promising active official Xbox matchmaking or fresh digital purchases are outdated. This article explains what that shutdown means without directing readers to unsafe downloads.

A quick history of the game

Gun Media's asymmetrical horror game launched in 2017. Players could take the roles of counselors or Jason in matches that turned the film's hide-and-seek tension into game mechanics. The Xbox One version shared the game's overall appeal: teamwork, escape attempts and the danger of an exceptionally powerful opponent.

Delisting and shutdown are different events

The game was removed from sale on major digital storefronts at the end of 2023, while previously announced online support continued toward December 31, 2024. The latter date marked the end of the officially supported server period. A delisted game is not simply 'temporarily sold out,' and a server shutdown is not solved by buying an old key from an unknown seller.

Can an old owner still play?

Existing downloads or physical copies may appear in a console library, but that does not mean the supported online service is operational. Any remaining local behavior depends on the version, console configuration and how the game was designed. Do not assume a working multiplayer experience just because an Xbox dashboard still recognizes the game's license.

Do not confuse it with future Jason projects

News about the broader Jason franchise or a possible different game does not restore the retired title's official servers. Check the publisher and licensed-rights announcements before accepting claims that 'Friday the 13th Xbox One' has received a new supported release. Avoid unofficial executables and listings that ask for account credentials.
