Their main differences are screen size, physical weight, rated battery endurance and the maximum storage tier. The 6.3-inch Pro is easier to carry; the 6.9-inch Pro Max offers more room for editing and a 2TB option. Neither is the newest Apple Pro generation after September 2026.

Ergonomics: the gap is real
A 6.1 mm width difference and more than 13 mm of extra height affect pockets, hand position and reaching the top of the screen. The Max is also about 27 g heavier in Apple's US specifications. These numbers may sound small on paper, but a heavy case and extended one-handed use exaggerate the difference. Buyers who commute or read on their phones should test grip before choosing the larger screen.

Both models are in the same 17 Pro camera family, with 48MP Fusion Main, Ultra Wide and Telephoto. Do not assume that “Max” always means an extra lens or better color science.
