Who Plays Ray in Scary Movie?
Who plays Ray Wilkins in Scary Movie (2000)? Meet the actor behind the character and revisit his role in the horror spoof.
Who Plays Ray in Scary Movie?
Ray Wilkins in Scary Movie (2000) is played by Shawn Wayans. He is one of the friends caught in the film's exaggerated parody of teen slasher mysteries, particularly Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Ray is a fictional comedy character, not a Ghostface identity from the original Scream and not a figure from an unrelated movie titled Ray Ray.
Who Ray is
Ray is part of Cindy Campbell's social circle, alongside characters who resemble and lampoon familiar 1990s horror archetypes. The film uses crude jokes and conspicuous misunderstandings to undercut the suspense of the movies it parodies. His relationships with other friends and his conspicuous behavior are central to several of the comedy beats.
The actor behind the character
Shawn Wayans plays Ray. His brother Marlon Wayans appears as Shorty Meeks, while Anna Faris plays Cindy and Regina Hall plays Brenda. Keeping those credits separate avoids a frequent mistake: listing a Scream actor as if they performed in the spoof or confusing Ray with a similarly named character in another franchise.
Parody, not a faithful remake
Scary Movie borrows the masked-killer setup and recognizable scenes from multiple films but rearranges them for jokes. The fictional motives and character relationships should not be treated as factual answers to the mysteries in Scream. Ray's behavior is written for broad comedy, not to establish an official extension of Woodsboro continuity.
How to find the right scene
Search with the full film title and 2000 release year. A clip labeled only 'Ray from the movie' can refer to different characters and productions. Identifying Shawn Wayans as the performer is the quickest check that the result concerns Ray Wilkins.
